“Threading” has long been the most fashionable form of brow shaping available in the elitist of New York & London Salons and thanks to Neelu White it has become just as popular throughout Ireland.
Neelu White has been practicing Threading in her own salon since as far back as 1985. She demonstrated this technique to Galligans Beauty College in 1983 and at various beauty congresses thereafter. But it was not until 2007 when Neelu was exhibiting Threading at the “Off the Rails” show at the RDS that she realised, Ireland was truly ready to adopt this Asian beauty treatment. Irish women were fascinated with the technique and a queue formed at her stand which never ceased for the whole of the show. After the show, Neelu continued to be inundated with requests for threading at her salon and she knew instantly, the time had come for Dublin’s very own Threading Bar. In November 2008 Neelu launched her own Threading Bar in Arnotts Department store. Since then Neelu has been featured for her threading on TV and radio as well as Irish and English Gloss magazines, national newspapers and beauty websites, she is without doubt the most renowned and respected person in Ireland for Threading.
As threading increased in popularity, so too did the requests from other beauty therapists, asking Neelu to teach them this ancient Asian technique, so this year Neelu has decided to offer a limited number of 2 day courses starting in November 2010. What exactly is Threading? – It is an ancient, traditional and natural facial hair removal technique, which is used extensively throughout India and Asia. It is used on the entire face, i.e. eyebrows, upper lip, chin, sideburns and cheeks. A special type of thread is used in Threading which has a degree of elasticity, and is treated with an anti-bacterial to prevent infection. The technique involves knotting and twisting a fine cotton thread around the hair and gently plucking it from the pore.
